Ever wonder where the Santa got his elves? There are many myths and ideas about how the man in red got his help, but Jason Kinnear offers us a truly definitive version of the ancient origin of the helping elves. His book is highly imaginative and at times both a realistic, gritty portrayal of a group of people who struggled to make ends meet and also a children's story that centers on cementing a magical realism into place for anyone with an imagination. This title is poised to become an annual Christmas favorite, as it paints an interesting picture of what we have all come to accept as part of the background to the Christmas mythology.

Elvolution

For Krista Campbell, growing up brought her two things: confusion and fear. She was born with a degenerative illness that nullified her sense of joy in the world and caused her constant physical pain, but then after coming to find out certain..."facts" about her past, Krista was left with not knowing what was real and what was not about who she really was. If this wasn't enough, something far more sinister had crept up on her without even being identified: a relationship that would suck the emotional marrow out of her for years. Only through the power of belief in herself and a sense of self-worth did she come to realize she wasn't a glass girl. She was made of the finest armor any of us can have in life: Esteem. Truly one of the most powerful books possibly ever written on what it means to live with disease and be in a dysfunctional relationship at the same time, Krista's book is a fantastic gift for anyone who needs to know they aren't alone in the universe of spoiled romances and lifelong battles with the unknown. Krista is truly a survivor but more importantly, a voice that can NOT be denied.

Daniel Landes

Sakura Publishing is very proud to finally have acquired a deal with Daniel Landes. He is the owner of Watercourse Foods and City, O' City in Denver, Colorado, and also Osa Mariposa restaurant in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. Over the years, Daniel has built a tremendous and successful business with these restaurants delivering the finest in vegan and vegetarian dishes to be found in the entire United States. His restaurants are considered to be a main attraction of anyone touring Denver, including the rich and famous that can be seen nightly at his wonderful establishments. Yet even though Daniel has poured his life into these restaurants, he has created a story so prolific and so profound that it wouldn't be a big surprise if it becomes not just a national best seller, but a movie adaptation made by Studio Ghibli! It's called Joonie and the Great Harbringer Stampede. The story is about an unlikely hero that was born "into tumultuous times," according to Daniel. This hero happens to be a rabbit who is being heralded as a "runner" and who has the unforgiving mission of stopping the great Iam from overtaking the world. Confused yet? One read and you'll see why this is essential reading for our times, as it's not just about a rabbit but about the beginning consciousness. Joonie's story will be published by Sakura in late Spring and we can't wait for that day to come!

The Yearn Parade

Oklahoma is not a place you might necessarily associate with poetry or smart prose. It's a place that summons up images of the south with all its storied history. Yet Chris Mathis has something to say. The Oklahoma son has created arguably one of the most intelligent collection of poems and prose Sakura Publishing has ever seen! It's full of soul wrenching stuff, but not in a cheezy cliche kind of way. It makes you think and think hard about what you want to tell your girlfriend at night or maybe your boyfriend when he wakes up and goes to his long day at work. What is fascinating about this collection of poems is that it also conveys an undertone of intense sadness that is barely being held up by toothpick emotions. Chris is a true artist, a great soul, and somebody who proves you can endure even the most difficult circumstances in life. His first book, entitled, "THE YEARN PARADE," will be out in early 2012.
